USF Men's Golf Closes its Fall Season in Hawaii

(San Francisco, CA) - USF men's golf travels to the Islands to compete in its last fall event, the 2006 Hawaii Fall Invitational at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Kaneohe, Hawaii. The Dons will play three 18-hole rounds over three days, beginning November 6 and ending with the final round on November 8.
San Francisco will face Weber State, Hartford, New Mexico State, Drake Universtiy, Idaho, the College of Charleston, San Diego State, Osaka Gakuin University, Louisiana Tech, Boise State, the University of Texas at Arlington and West Coast Conference competitors Loyola Marymount, San Diego and St. Mary's on the windy par-72 course.
"We are in a different position going into this tournament being ranked above most of the teams. Players will be shooting for us, trying to knock our players out, so we must play a strong, consistent game across the board. With strong winds and possible rain, luck will also play a role in this event and we will be looking for some good luck this year," head coach Gary Nelson said.
In their last event, the Santa Clara Invitational held October 23-24, the Dons finished tied for second at 881 (298, 282, 301) in front of all four WCC teams present. Junior Kenny Adams paced the Dons, finishing tied for ninth with a final score of one-over 217 (72, 72, 73) and senior Taylor Hobin shot a two-over 218 (74, 68, 76), good for a share of 11th place. The same squad that played in Santa Clara with represent the Green and Gold in Hawaii.
