Former Dons Soccer Standout Adam Bergman plays at Stamford Bridge
Former San Francisco Forward, Adam Bergman, competed and won the Right to Play World Cup Challenge held at Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea FC in West London this past Tuesday. Bergman was competing as part of Lonestar Capital Management’s corporate team. His team won the Championship 2-0.

San Francisco Men’s Soccer is pleased to announce the signing of 6-4 defender Joshua Smith to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and the roster additions of 5-6 midfielder Jesus Del Toro (Novato, CA), 6-2 goalkeeper Connor Gaal (Newport Coast, CA) and 5-8 defender Tyler Sylvia (Martinez, CA) to play soccer at the University of San Francisco as announced today by head coach Erik Visser.

San Francisco Hosts Stanford and Academy of Art in Spring Season Finale Friday Night
San Francisco men’s soccer closes out its 2012 Spring Season when it hosts a pair of matches Friday, April 27 at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons welcome the Urban Knights of the Academy of Art at 5:00 PM and then take on Bay Area Pac-12 rival Stanford in the finale at 7:00 PM under the lights.

USF Falls to San Jose Earthquakes in Spring Season Tune Up
The USF Dons Men’s Soccer program traveled down to the South Bay for their second spring game of 2012, falling to MLS’ San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 at the Nutrilite training facility. Coming off of a very impressive and promising 2011 season, the Dons were well organized and pleased to take on a team from the professional ranks.

San Francisco Men’s Soccer Announces Two Signings for 2012 Season
San Francisco Men’s Soccer is pleased to announce the signings of 6-1 attacking midfielder Ryan Eppley (Southampton, PA) to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and 5-11 forward Creighton transfer Liam Kelly (Bellevue, WA) to a scholarship agreement for the 2012 season as announced today by head coach Erik Visser. This is the first group of signings for the Dons and more are anticipated in the coming weeks.

San Francisco men’s soccer wrapped up the 2011 season with a scoreless draw at Gonzaga in a hard-fought West Coast Conference battle Sunday afternoon at the Gonzaga Soccer Stadium. The Dons (6-10-3, 4-6-2 WCC) competed in their third consecutive double-overtime contest and their second straight on the road in the regular season finale against the Bulldogs (4-12-3, 2-8-2 WCC).

San Francisco men’s soccer struck first, but Santa Clara struck last, taking a 3-2 come-from-behind victory in West Coast Conference action Wednesday night at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons (6-8-2, 4-4-1 WCC) played a man down for most of the second half and the Broncos (8-5-4, 4-4-1 WCC) scored three unanswered in the final 24 minutes of the contest.

San Francisco men’s soccer lost its first home West Coast Conference match of the season in agonizing fashion 0:36 into the first overtime session to Loyola Marymount on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Negeosco Stadium. The Dons (6-7-2, 4-3-1 WCC) dominated for most of the game, but simply could not find the back of the net as the Lions (6-9-1, 4-3-1 WCC) complete the season series sweep.

San Francisco Soccer Welcomes Back Decade of the 2000s Soccer Alumni
San Francisco Soccer welcomed its alumni from the decade of the 2000s to the Hilltop last weekend for special events, capped by a match between the 2000s alumni and the current USF squad. More than 20 alumni, featuring more than a dozen All-West Coast Conference selections, returned to compete at Negoesco Stadium on Saturday.

Former San Francisco men’s soccer player Rob Valentino won the 2011 USL PRO Defender of the Year award after helping Orlando City to the USL PRO Championship last week in Orlando. The Lions beat Harrisburg City 3-2 on penalty kicks to win the club’s first championship on September 3.

The former Olympian and MLS All-Star will be just the third member of the Earthquakes Hall of Fame and the second Don, joining former two-time USF All-American and current Earthquakes’ GM John Doyle.

Incoming Freshman Kevin Gould Named to ESPN RISE Winter Prep All-America Team
Incoming men’s soccer freshman Kevin Gould (San Clemente, CA) earned another impressive accolade in a prep and club career full of them when he was selected for the 2011 ESPN Rise Winter Prep All-America Team. Gould, a 6-0 defender lifted San Clemente High School to the CIF Championship and captured 2011 CIF-SS Division I Player of the Year honors in the process.
