Tyler Gottschalk, who received his Masters of Sport Management from USF in 2008, enters his sixth year as an assistant with the team.

Gottschalk previously held an assistant coaching position at Domincan University for two years, and prior to that he was an assistant at Linfeld College where he also earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance.

As a player, Gottschalk captained Linfield's Division III Final Four team from his center back position to an overall record of 21-1-1 in 2000. Gottschalk played in 69 career matches, recording five goals and two assists. In his senior year, Gottschalk set school records for starts in a season and minutes played in a season that still stand today.

After college, Gottschalk played two years for the Northern Nevada Aces of the USL Divison III Pro League and then the MPSL. In his first season, Gottschalk scored two goals including the game winner against the San Diego Gauchos. The following season Gottschalk anchored a back line that helped the Aces earn a MPSL playoff berth, losing to the Utah Salt Ratz in the semifinals.

He currently holds a USSF "A" License.

Gottschalk is very active in the development of youth players. He currently coaches two teams in Novato, Calif., as well as a youth team in San Francisco. In addition to being the USF Soccer Camp Director, he is also a member of the Coerver Camp Coaching Staff. Gottschalk was also part of the Marin Catholic High School Girl's coaching staff that won the 2006 JV MCAL Championship and the North Cal Section Championship.

After serving for several years as a District Olympic Development Team Coach, Gottschalk has begun working with the Northern California State Team. For the past three seasons Gottschalk has served as the assistant to former USF star Godwin Odiye with the 89 Boys and the 90 Boys Cal North teams.

Gottschalk, son of Robert and Linda Gottschalk and brother to Kristin, currently resides in Petaluma, Calif., with his wife, Gina, and his newborn daughter Leilani.
