USF Athletics on the Air This Weekend
June 11, 2010
(San Francisco) - USF Athletics will be well represented on the air this weekend as two USF head coaches will be featured on television. Head men's soccer coach Erik Visser will provide postgame analysis of Saturday's USA vs. England World Cup match on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, and on Sunday head men's basketball coach Rex Walters will appear on "After the Game" on ABC 7 to talk about game five of the NBA Finals.
Coach Visser prepares for his 33rd year associated with the USF men's soccer program. A starter on two Dons NCAA Championship squads (1978, 80), Visser has guided San Francisco to three West Coast Conference Championships and four NCAA Tournament berths since 2004 and sent four players into the MLS during the span. As the top assistant coach of the 2001 USA Youth World Cup U-20 Team, Visser coached current US National Team stars DeMarcus Beasley, Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan.
Coach Visser appears on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area Saturday and his analysis will air on its Sports Central Show at 6:00 PM, 10:30 PM and Midnight.
Coach Walters is set for his third season guiding the Dons. The former Kansas star spent seven seasons in the NBA where he played for Naismith Hall of Fame coaches Chuck Daly, Larry Brown and Pat Riley. In two-plus seasons at USF, Walters has transformed the roster and guided the Green and Gold to a fourth place finish in the WCC in 2010, highlighted by a 81-77 overtime victory against No. 13/8 Gonzaga January 31 at War Memorial Gym.
Coach Walters appears Sunday night on ABC Channel 7 (KGO) immediately following game five of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM (PT).
