Dec. 10, 2009

(San Francisco) - Senior All-American Conor Chinn picked up additional accolades with selection to the 2009 NCAA Division I Far West All-Region Second Team as announced today by the NSCAA. In addition, the San Diego native was one of 62 invitees selected to compete in the 2010 Adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine as announced today by the MLS.

It is the second straight season Chinn has captured Far West Region selection. The 2008 WCC Player of the Year was just a second team selection last season despite ranking in the top-10 nationally among Division I leaders in goals (17 -8th) and goals per game (0.81 -8th). Chinn wrapped up a prolific career in the Green and Gold leading the conference in overall (10) and WCC (6) goals for the second consecutive season.

The 2010 Adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine will be held at Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, FL January 8-12. Chinn will be one of 62 combine invitees representing 44 Division I programs.

"Conor Chinn is very deserving of these accolades," USF head coach Erik Visser said. "Conor enjoyed an outstanding career at the University of San Francisco and his accomplishments here helped pave the way for the next step in his soccer career. He is a very talented offensive player and we wish him nothing but success in the MLS Combine."

Chinn scored his final goal for the Green and Gold Friday at Portland, capping a prolific offensive career on the Hilltop. It was the 37th scoring strike of his career and vaulted the senior All-American into a share of seventh place on the Dons career goals list with two-time First Team All-American Staale Soebye (1991-94). It was also the 12th career game-winner for Chinn, who recorded a league-high six goals in WCC matches this season.

The San Diego native shattered the single-season goals record in WCC matches with 14 last season and departs as the career WCC goals leader as well. In league play, Chinn struck for 20 goals, passing former teammate and 2004 WCC Player of the Year Aaron Chandler (2003-06) for the top spot. Chandler recorded 17 during his standout career.

In 48 league matches, Chinn scored 20 goals - nine of them game-winners - to go along with eight assists for a league record 48 points. For his overall career, Chinn leaves with 37 goals, 12 game-winners, 12 assists and 86 points coming in 76 career contests.
