Pablo Pires de Almeida is in his second year as an assistant coach for the Dons. Pires de Almeida rejoins the San Francisco men's tennis program after a three-year hiatus. He formerly was a four-year letter winner for the program from 2001-05. Pires de Almeida is responsible for providing instruction individually, and collectively, during practice and competition. His other responsibilities include guiding and implementing a physical conditioning program, assisting with nutritional and weight management support, while also managing the yearly schedule, equipment, recruiting and other managerial tasks. During his playing career on the Hilltop, Pires de Almeida was an All-West Coast Conference selection three times, including a first team singles selection in 2005. He also earned an all-time Division I national singles rank of 61st, and a doubles ranking of 70th, while donning the Green and Gold. Following his collegiate career, Pires de Almeida went on to become a High Performance Coach. His coaching efforts include overseeing the national traveling the Boys' 16 Winter Super National Championships and the Boys' 18 National Open Championships. Pires de Almeida continues to play on the professional circuit, and since joining the circuit in 2006 has amassed a career ATP ranking of 1461 in singles and 930 in doubles. Currently, he is ranked 1660 in singles and 932 in doubles. |
