USF Men's Tennis Defeats Saint Mary's 5-2

(Moraga, CA) - USF men's tennis won its second straight West Coast Conference decision with a 5-2 victory against Bay Area rival Saint Mary's Saturday afternoon at the Timothy Korth Courts in Moraga. With the victory, the Dons (4-8, 2-1 WCC) complete a rare weekend sweep of the Gaels (2-8, 0-4 WCC) and the Broncos.
San Francisco won the doubles point and secured wins at No. 1, No.2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Timo Kienle won easily at No. 1 for the Dons with a 6-1, 6-0 pasting of Julien Tizot, while Philip Riise-Hanssen won 6-1, 6-3 against Martin Marechal, 6-1, 6-3.
USF dropped matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, but the lower part of the lineup posted wins. Rafael Corazza won in three sets against Yuri Platonov, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 and Andrew ertolina won 6-3, 7-5 at No.6 singles against J.J. Whitlinger.
San Francisco returns to action when they host Hawaii Sunday, March 6. First serve against the Rainbow Warriors is set for noon at Golden Gate Park.
