San Francisco Tops Penn, 6-1

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco men's tennis team defeated Penn, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at the Olympic Club. Falko Huettenberger and Asaf Cohen led the charge for the Dons, winning an 8-2 decision over No. 57 Joseph Lok and Jason Pinsky at the No. 1 position in doubles.

The win was the third straight for the Dons, improving their 2008 duals record to 8-3. The Quakers drop to 7-6 on the year.

Behind Huettenberger and Cohen, Thong Tu and Rainer Nachbauer secured the doubles point for USF by taking Brandon O'Gara and Jeffery Karsh by an 8-3 score. Penn finished doubles with an 8-6 win at No. 3 by Adam Schwartz and Justen Roth.

USF dominated singles winning matches one through five in straight sets. At No. 1, Tu scored a victory with a 6-2, 6-4 final over Pinsky. Cohen, at No. 2, topped Lok 7-5, 6-4. In order after Cohen, Einar Hart defeated Justin Fox, 6-4, 6-2, Nachbauer topped Schwartz 6-3, 6-4 and Huettenberger took care of Roth, 6-1, 6-1. Penn won the No. 6 position with a 6-2, 6-2 win by O'Gara over Del Rosario.

San Francisco hosts SMU and Cal at Pebble Beach Friday and Saturday. The duals will begin at 1 p.m. PDT on both days.
