Men's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight

(San Francisco) - USF men's tennis won its fifth straight match Thursday, taking a 6-1 decision from visiting UAB at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. The Dons dominated the match, winning five singles points in straight sets.
With the victory, San Francisco improved to 9-4 on the year.
The Dons jumped out to an early lead in doubles action, sweeping all three points. At No. 1, Thai Tu and Asaf Cohen earned a 8-4 win over Manlow and Moser. William Schumacher and Richard Bucalem continued the strong pace at No. 2, taking an 8-5 win over Petrich and Emery. Einar Hart and Mark DeCastro closed out doubles action at No. 3 with an 8-4 victory against Ewels and Zimmerman.
Tu led the campaign in singles action, earning his ninth straight singles match, 7-6, 6-3 over Emery. Cohen earned a 6-3 6-3 victory against Zimmerman at No. 3, while Ola Bakke posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 against Moser. DeCastro recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 against Ewels, while Schumacher closed it out with a 7-6. 6-0 No. 6 win over Grnei.
San Francisco will take to the courts again Sunday as they host Sonoma State at the Cal Club. Action is set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
