Einar Hart Earns Consolation Victory At ITAs

(Berkeley) - Einar Hart, of the USF men's tennis team, earned a straight set 6-1, 7-5 victory over Oregon's Sho Higuchi in the singles consolation round of 32 Sunday at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional in Berkeley, Calif. Hart was the lone Don to advance out of the round of 32 but was unable to move past the round of 16, dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Washington's Ryo Sekiguchi.

In the main draw, Tommy Tu dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision in the quarterfinals to Sacramento State's Kiryl Harbatsiuk. Prior to the quarterfinals loss, Tu had sailed through the opening three rounds, winning each match in straight sets.

Alex Kotlyar, Peder Steen and Mitch Del Rosario all competed in the singles consolation round of 32, but were unable to advance after dropping their respective matches.

In doubles play, the USF duos of Rainer Nachbauer and Tu, and Jacob Hartwig and Michael Carreno each fell in their respective contests to opponents from Washington.
