Bay Area Native Pablo Pires De Almeida Gets National Singles Ranking
March 10, 2005
In the most recent ITA College ranking Fairfax, CA. native Pablo Pires de Almeida received a ranking of #70 in the country. This is only the second player for the Dons tennis team to be nationally ranked in the last 23 years. The last USF tennis player to be ranked was two season ago when Joachim Lien was ranked #89 in the country.
Pires De Almeida came to USF as a freshman and has developed his game to a national level as a Don. He is one of only five West Coast Conference players ranked national and one of three Northern California natives ranked nationally in singles.
USF is on a three match winning streak after defeating Santa Clara, Saint Mary's, and Hawaii. The Dons will be in action again March 14, 2005 when they take on Radford at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. The match is slated to begin at 1:30 PM.
