USF Travels To Reno For Saturday Dual

San Francisco men's tennis travels to Reno for a Saturday non-conference dual versus the Wolfpack. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. PDT from LakeRidge Tennis Club.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION NEVADA (3-12)

USF and Nevada will meet for the first time since the 2000-01 season. Unfortunately, stats for their dual are unavailable. The Nevada men's tennis team lost 6-1 to Pacific on Sunday at LakeRidge Tennis Club in Reno.

Nevada won the first doubles match but Pacific won at Nos. 2 and 3 in doubles to win the doubles point. In singles play, the bulk of the matches went three sets or tie-breakers. Laurent Garcin was the only Wolf Pack player to get a victory. Garcin dropped the the first set but came back for the victory in three sets. He is now 12-2 in dual play this year and 22-7 overall.

USF'S LAST DUAL

The San Francisco men's tennis squad (11-6) defeated West Coast Conference rival Santa Clara (2-13) for the second time this season Wednesday, finishing with a 6-1 decision over the Broncos.

Due to a possibility of rain, the singles portion of competition was conducted first. The Dons' Greg Hom opened the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over John Iwanski at No. 6. Mitch Del Rosario followed at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-1 topping of Justin Wong and then Einar Hart defeated Charlie Burke by the same score at No. 4.

Following a 6-3, 7-6 loss by Thong Tu to Jay Wong, Asaf Cohen and Rainer Nachbauer won 7-6 (5), 6-4; 7-6(5), 6-3 decisions over Kenzo Hirakawa Wong and Senthil Chidambaram, respectively.

With a 5-1 lead, USF and Santa Clara continued to doubles play where the Dons secured the bonus point with a sweep of all three matches.
