Pires de Almeida, Riise-Hansen Claim WCC Tennis Awards

Malibu - The West Coast Conference announced that USF senior Pablo Pires de Almeida and freshman Phillip Riise-Hansen were named to the conference's second team for their successful doubles play. In addition, in singles play Pires de Almeida was named All-Conference first team as Riise-Hansen was named to the second team. This is the second consecutive year Pires de Almeida has won WCC honors in both doubles and singles. Concluding the season with a 4-0 sweep of Gonzaga, the Dons finished in seventh place at the recent WCC Championships in Malibu.
In doubles, nationally ranked senior Pablo Pires de Almeida and freshman Philip Riise-Hansen in the number one position finished the season 5-7. In singles play, Pires de Almeida completed his season 1-5, and Riise Hansen finished his first season with the Dons 11-1. The men's team finished 2005 with a record of 11-14, 3-5 in WCC action.
