West Coast Conference and IMG College Announce Three-Year Partnership with Andre Agassi Foundation for Education
Sept. 29, 2009
The West Coast Conference (WCC) and IMG College, a division of IMG Worldwide, the conference's exclusive multimedia rights holder, announced today that they have formed a three-year partnership with the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education (AAFE). The agreement, which begins in 2010 and runs through 2012, will include an expanded presence at the Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships in Las Vegas. In addition, AAFE will be the presenting sponsor of the WCC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships. "We are excited to be partnering with the West Coast Conference and its eight academically renowned member institutions," said Foundation CEO Steve Miller. "Having spent a good portion of my career in college athletics, this partnership makes a great deal of sense to us. Our Foundation and the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy share many of the same values, ideals, and missions as the West Coast Conference institutions." "The West Coast Conference is pleased with the extension of our agreement with the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, because both groups believe strongly in the importance of education at all levels," WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich said. "We also feel this speaks strongly of our relationships within the Las Vegas community with both Zappos.com and the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education having an expanded presence at our 2010 basketball championships at the Orleans Arena. The WCC also has a strong men's and women's tennis history, and it is truly an honor for our conference to have the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education as the presenting sponsor for our conference tennis championships." The Foundation will have a home-court advantage when the partnership kicks off with the Zappos.com WCC Women's Basketball Championship final on Monday, March 8, 2010 in the Foundation's home city of Las Vegas. The 2010 tennis championships are scheduled for April 23-25 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego. "We are very grateful to the Agassi Foundation for reaching out to partner with the West Coast Conference and its mission to support student-athletes," said Dan Shell, IMG General Manager for the West Coast Conference. "Not only are Steve Miller and his staff great resources for our conference and member institutions, but the involvement of the Agassi Foundation in the basketball and tennis championships will enhance the experience for the student-athletes at these events."
As part of the sponsorship agreement, Miller, whose background includes stints as athletic director at Kansas State University and head of sponsorships for Nike, will speak to student-athletes and administrators about educational topics. Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf will join those conversations as available. About the West Coast Conference About the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education About IMG College |
