Final Singles Consolation in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

(San Francisco) - Sunday marked the final day of the 2009 Battle of the Bay Classic, hosted by the USF Men’s Tennis Team, at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco. The Dons’ Rainer Nachbauer and William Schumacher finished as runners-up in the doubles bracket.

The four-day event featured the top singles players and doubles teams from five Division I schools in the Bay Area - USF, California, Stanford, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara.

Nachbauer and Schumacher fell in the final match of the tournament, the doubles championship, to Stanford’s Walker Kehren and Dennis Lin 8-1.

In the singles main draw, Santa Clara’s Andrew Kells earned the singles title, defeating Lin of Stanford, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

California’s Nick Andrews earned the single’s consolation bracket title thanks to a straight-set 7-5, 7-6 (9) victory over teammate Zach Gilbert.
