Singleterry Honored Nationally For Efforts In The Classroom
Vania Singleterry, a senior guard from the University of San Francisco women’s basketball program, has been named as an Honorable Mention selection to the 2011-12 National Academic All-Jesuit Women’s Basketball Team. The squad was announced Friday by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

Spietz To Transfer To USF Women's Basketball From Missouri
Paige Spietz, a 6-3 post player, will transfer to the University of San Francisco women’s basketball program as announced by San Francisco head coach Jennifer Azzi, Friday. Spietz, who signed a financial aid agreement, will transfer to the Hilltop from Big 12 Conference power, University of Missouri.

Lopez, a 5-8 point guard, will join the Dons after a stellar two-year career at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore.

Furious Rally Falls Short For Dons
A furious comeback from the University of San Francisco women’s basketball team fell short Wednesday, as the eighth seeded Dons dropped a 66-60 decision to ninth seeded Loyola Marymount Wednesday in the opening round of the 2012 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Tournament. USF was down by as many as 17 in the second half, but pulled within one with under two minutes left.

Winston, Ale Earn All-WCC Honors
Taj Winston and Rheina Ale of the University of San Francisco women’s basketball team, have earned All-West Coast Conference honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday. The league’s head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own team, voted on the All-WCC, All-freshman and honorable mention selections.

Vania Singleterry, a senior on the University of San Francisco women’s basketball team, has earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors, for the third consecutive season, as announced by the league office Monday. Singleterry becomes the sixth Don in program history to earn the accolade in three consecutive seasons.

During the final regular season game of their career, all three San Francisco women’s basketball seniors scored in double-digits as the Dons dropped a 69-62 decision to Santa Clara at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, Calif. Rheina Ale paced the trio with 18 points, while Vania Singleterry narrowly missed a double-double.

College Sports Madness named San Francisco freshman guard Jamie Katuna its Madness National High-Major Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and West Coast Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the past week.
