INTRODUCTION Abby Conklin enters her fourth season as the top assistant coach for the University of San Francisco under head coach and fellow Tennessee Lady Vols alum, Tanya Haave. Conklin joined the Dons after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Wyoming (2004-06), where she focused on player development, scouting and recruiting. EARNING HER COACHING SPURS During her stint in Laramie, Conklin helped the Cowgirls reach the second round of the 2006 WNIT Postseason Tournament, finishing with a 21-9 record. In two seasons, Wyoming owned a 37-21 record. Conklin worked with the 2006 Mountain West Conference Defender (Hanna Zavecz) and Newcomer (Megan McGuffey) of the Year and assisted with the development of six All-MWC selections. Before joining the Cowgirls staff, Conklin served as head varsity basketball coach at Trinity High School (River Forest, IL) where she led the team to the 2003-04 IHSA Regional Championship and the Sectional runner-up. Conklin began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant at UNC-Asheville (1998-2002) serving as the recruiting coordinator. In her four seasons with the Bulldogs Conklin recruited five Big South All-Rookie performers, including a pair for the 1999 and 2000 seasons. A LADY VOL STANDOUT Conklin turned in an outstanding four-year career at the University of Tennessee (1993-97) under coaching legend Pat Summitt. Conklin was a starter on the Lady Vols' 1996 and 1997 NCAA National Championship teams, serving as team captain during her senior campaign. During her career in Knoxville, Tennessee posted a remarkable 126-19 (.869) record, including a 29-4 postseason record. In addition to back-to-back NCAA titles, Conklin competed on the Lady Vols 1995 NCAA runner-up squad. Named to the All-SEC second team in 1997, Conklin earned numerous awards throughout her playing career, including the Lady Volunteer Leadership Award in 1997 as well as the Most Improved Player Award in both the 1993-94 and 1995-96 seasons. A gifted shooter, Conklin litters the Tennessee record book, ranking eighth in career 3-pointers (124), seventh in career 3-point attempts (349) and 10th blocked shots (102) in 143 career contests. In addition to her success on the court, Conklin was a three-time Academic All-SEC selection. Conklin earned her Bachelor's Degree in recreation and leisure studies from Tennessee in 1997. Conklin is expected to earn her Masters in Organziational Leadership from USF this winter. NEXT STOP: (ATLANTA) GLORY After her standout career at Tennessee, Conklin was selected by the Atlanta Glory with the 23rd overall pick in the 1997 ABL draft. Conklin played for the Atlanta Glory in 1997-1998.
