(San Diego, CA) - Senior guard Dominique Carter continues to assault the record books despite San Francisco's 67-48 loss to San Diego in West Coast Conference action on Saturday at Jenny Craig Pavilion. With the loss, the Dons (13-10, 4-4 WCC) split the season series with the Toreros (12-10, 3-5 WCC). Carter scored 16 points on the afternoon, bringing her career total to 1,710. She surpassed both Gonzaga's Ivy Safranski (1991-95/1,702) at seventh and Gonzaga's Jessica Malone (1998-2002/1,703) in sixth to enter into a fifth place tie with Saint Mary's' Anja Bordt (1988-91). Carter needs 33 points to jump into fourth place, currently occupied by SMC's Cheree Tappin (1987-91/1,742). The Tracy, CA native also posted seven rebounds and an assist against USD. Junior guard Shay Rollins scored 11 points with two rebounds and three assists and senior center Lisa Olden added two blocks. USF's lone statistical advantage came in 3-point field goal percentage, .313 to .273. The Toreros led in field goal percentage (.439 to .370), free throw percentage (.933 to .750), rebounds (35 to 33), and turnovers (17 to 27). For USD, junior center Amber Sprague (12 points, 12 rebounds, two assists) and senior guard Amanda Rego (10 points, three rebounds, 10 assists) earned double-doubles, and junior forward Kiva Herman led all scorers with 16 points and five rebounds. San Francisco returns to action next week, traveling north to Spokane, WA to take on Gonzaga on Thursday. Tip-off against the Bulldogs is set for 7:00 PM.
