USF Women's Basketball Falls at Nevada 66-44

(Reno) - USF women's basketball were on the receiving end of a 20-2 run and did not score its first filed goal until the 13:12 mark as Nevada cruised to a 66-44 non-conference victory Sunday afternoon at the Lawlor Events Center. The Dons (9-5) had their six-game winning streak snapped, while the Wolf Pack (9-3) continues the best start in program history.

San Francisco got a team-high 12 points and 12 rebounds from junior center Necolia Simmons off the bench. Freshman forward Donnisha Taylor added 10 points and five boards for the Dons. Senior guard Dominique Carter added nine points with a pair of steals.

USF suffered through a tough night shooting the basketball, converting on just .322 (19-59) from the field, and went just .231 (6-26) in the first half. Nevada shot at a .438 clip (28-64) and forced 20 turnovers.

San Francisco opens up 2008 when it hosts defending WNIT Champions Wyoming Thursday, January 3 in its final non-conference game of the regular season. Tip-off against the Cowgirls is set for 7:00 PM at War Memorial Gym.
