(Portland, OR) - USF got double-doubles from both post players and a career-high 16 points from sophomore guard Alicia Hernandez as the Lady Dons rolled past Portland 74-60 in West Coast Conference women's basketball action Jan. 13 in the Chile Center. USF (9-6, 2-0 WCC) collected their fourth consecutive win and sweep the opening weekend of league play for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign. Portland (9-6, 0-2) dropped their third straight game to the Lady Dons.

San Francisco dominated the low block in this one as senior center Kim Whisler and freshman forward Mary Jane Krueger each registered a double-double, with Krueger pouring in 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds, while Whisler scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. It was the third double dip of the season for both Krueger and Whisler. The Lady Dons pounded the Pilots on the boards and held a 53-33 advantage on the glass.

Other notables for USF were junior guard Lindsey Huff, who scored 10 points, while senior forward Cortney Keegan added nine points and pulled down five rebounds. Junior forward Molly Shanley chipped in eight points. In addition to her career scoring night, Hernandez dished out a team-high six assists.

USF connected on .473 (26-55) from the floor, while Portland managed .365 (23-63). The high shooting percentage and overwhelming rebounding advantage helped overcome 28 Lady Dons' turnovers. The Pilots committed 17.

San Francisco returns to WCC action when they host San Diego, Jan. 19 at War Memorial Gym. Game time is at 7:00 PM.
