    For the second consecutive evening, San Francisco turned up their defensive intensity and pulled out a convincing victory, defeating Loyola Marymount 74-56 at War Memorial Gym. Trailing by one at the half, 36-35, the Lady Dons started the second period with a 10-0 run and apllied relentless defensive pressure to hold the Lions to only five field goals in the final 20 minutes. It was the Lady Dons' first back-to-back weekend series sweep since the 1996-97 season.

    Sophomore guard Lindsey Huff led the Lady Dons with 18 points in 31 minutes, going 3-of-5 from long range. Junior forward Cortney Keegan added 14 points, scoring 10 in the second half including back-to-back 3-pointers, while Melanie Turner scored 10 off the bench.

    Senior post player Dana Hunter led Loyola Marymount with 16 points in a 5-for-11 performance from the field.

    The Lady Dons also shot well again from the charity stripe, converting 22 of 28 on the evening.

    With the victory, USF climbs back into contention in the West Coast Conference race, improving to 10-9 on the season, 3-3 in the WCC. Loyola Marymount falls to 10-9 overall, 3-3 WCC.

    San Francisco returns to action Thursday night (February 3) as they travel to league-leading Saint Mary's (14-5, 6-0 WCC) for a West Coast Conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00PM in Moraga.
