Women's Basketball Inks Top-5 Rated Recruit
May 21, 2009
(San Francisco) - Brittany Brumfield has signed a national letter of intent to join the USF women's basketball team for the 2009-2010 season, as announced Thursday by the Dons head coach Tanya Haave. Brumfield will come to the Hilltop from Trinity Valley Community College, where she was rated as the No. 5 point guard, 18th overall, in the 2009 Junior College Class according to the All-Star Girls Report.
"Signing Brittany is a huge bonus for our program," said Haave. "She will come in and fill a void left by Shay (Rollins). She possesses the same quickness and speed as Shay, but at the same time brings a bit more size to our roster. I expect her to make an immediate impact as our point guard."
Brumfield, a 5-7 point guard, will don the Green and Gold as a highly ranked national recruit. In addition to being ranked as the fifth-best point guard by All-Star Girls Report, the Long Beach native was also listed as then tenth point guard, 39th overall player, by the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.
During the 2008-09 season, Brumfield led Trinity Valley to a 28-8 overall record, including a victory over Vincennes University in the seventh place game at the National Tournament.
Prior to her junior college career, Brumfield played at Long Beach Poly High School, leading her team to a pair of CIF Championship titles and a national ranking of No. 2 during the 2006-07 season. The 2007 graduate also led the squad in assists, while averaging 3.4 steals per game.
