It is May 28, 2009 and we are on our 5th day of travel. Today we have spent most of our time on the bus. We left Stockholm this morning and are making our way to Oslo, Norway. The ride is about 8 hours and we should arrive in Norway around 6 in the evening. We have still been having difficulty adjusting to the time change and, because of this, most of us have spent the bus ride sleeping or watching movies.
The scenery between the two countries is mostly green countryside, but ever so often we pass through a small town. For lunch we stopped at a quaint Swedish restaurant where the majority of us ate pizza or kabobs. Stockholm was beautiful and we are all excited to see the differences between the cities once we arrive in Norway.
Tomorrow we will be touring the city of Oslo, Norway and will visit several museums. Before we left, we all gave brief presentations on specific Scandinavian words or topics. My original presentation was on Kon-Tiki, a raft that crossed from here to South America in one hundred and one days. According to our itinerary, we will be visiting the site of the raft during tomorrow's morning outings. This has been an incredible experience thus far. I look forward to my remaining days in Scandinavia.

The drive to Olso was diverse. Reminded me, once again, of the Pacific Northwest. A majority of the drive was through a forest of Birch trees. Skinny trees, but when there are enough of them, they definitely have an effect of a forest. Along the way through the last part of Sweden and early parts of Norway, there were some amazing lakes with beautiful scenery. I snapped a couple picutures through the bus window for the blog, check them out.
Upon arriving and checking into our hotel in Oslo, we had team meal at an Italian place down the street, before taking a walk around town a bit. It was a little strange, coming out of dinner at 1030 and the sun still being out. In Stockholm and Olso, there are some amazing hours of daylight this time of year. In Stockholm, the sun would set aroung 1115ish before rising again around two. Oslo is further north, so less hours of daylight. At 11:30 tonight, it started to set. Crazy.
Ok I am off to bed. Tomorrow we have a game against the top team in Norway.
Stay tuned....
