Dons Viking Voyage: Reflection Blog 3
June 18, 2009
As part of the post-trip coverage of the USF Women's Basketball "Viking Voyage" to Scandinavia, assistant coach Molly Marrin provides www.USFDons.com with a blog reflecting on the Dons' time in Copenhagen, Demark. I stood balanced on the equilibrium of humility and amazement. We departed the DFDS Seaways cruise ship at 9:30 am and transitioned immediately into a tour of our third and final Scandinavian city. Sunny and 72 degrees, we strolled the city streets camera ready, in a city that makes any novice want to be an extraordinary photographer. I was humbled standing beside the oldest fountain in Denmark, which was erected many years before the United States was on the map. One study labeled the Danish people as the happiest in the world. This intrigued me instantly and I was in search of what could have earned them such an envious title. As we strolled through the busy city centre, cruised passed beautiful boats in the channel tour, and dined on small meals in outdoor patio cafes, it was easy to feel the quality of life and slow pace that Danish experienced every day. Of course, I must mention that beating the Danish National Team handily twice was a major highlight as well. :) Go Dons! -Molly -- Stay tuned to www.USFDons.com for a recap blog from head coach Tanya Haave.
