(San Francisco) - Former USF women's basketball star Toni Russell is coaching the United States - San Francisco girl's team competing in the 2008 International Children's Games beginning Friday and running through the weekend at War Memorial Gym. In preliminary action on Friday, the San Francisco squad posted a 2-0 record with a 46-11 win against Jerusalem, Israel and a 60-18 victory against Lake San Maquarie, Australia. War Memorial Gym is serving as one of the venues for the 42nd International Children's Games. USF's Negoesco Stadium and the Koret Center are also being used for events running from July 10-15 throughout San Francisco. A two-time West Coast Conference Defender of the Year, Russell turned in a remarkable four-year career on the Hilltop. The 2002 WCC Freshman of the Year, Russell departed USF as the league's career steals leader - men and women - with 359.
