    Mary Hile-Nepfel becomes USF's all-time coaching wins leader (197)
    USF sprinted out to a 20-7 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half and never looked back as they pounded UC Riverside 105-51 in non-conference women's basketball action Sunday at War Memorial Gym. The Lady Dons (1-0) broke a pair of school records against the Highlanders (1-1), including most points (105) and most assists (34) in a game.

    It was a successful debut for USF head coach Mary Hile-Nepfel who won her 197th career game, first as sole head coach of the Lady Dons. All 12 players who saw action scored and six reached double-digits. More impressively, 11 of the 12 players dished out at least one assist. Junior guard Melanie Turner scored a game-high 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack.

    Senior center Kim Whisler turned in a monster effort with a 14 point, 13 rebound double-double performance. Freshman center Mary Jane Krueger also enjoyed a good game on the low block for the Lady Dons with 10 points and eight rebounds. Senior forward Cortney Keegan chipped in 13 points to go along with five assists and three rebounds.

    Junior forward Molly Shanley, junior guard Alicia Hernandez each added 10 points apiece. Junior guard Lindsey Huff scored six points and dished out seven assists, while sophomore guard Lisa Whiteside also added six to go along with a game and career-high eight assists for the Lady Dons.

    Julie Shaw scored nine points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the way for the Highlanders.

    USF returns to action when they travel to Fullerton for a Nov. 25 contest against Cal State Fullerton. Game time is at 2:00 PM at Titan Gym.
