SAN FRANCISCO (AP) (November 23)-- Stacy Frese had 17 points as No. 13 Iowa State overcame a slow start to beat San Francisco 83-64 on Tuesday night.

The Cyclones (2-1) were coming off an upset loss at the hands of Stanford two days ago, and early on it looked as if the Dons (0-2) would continue the losing streak.

USF reeled off nine straight points for an early 12-4 lead. The Dons got as far ahead as 21-13 before Iowa State went on a 33-5 run over the last 11:20 of the first half to take control of the game.

The Cyclones led 46-26 at the half and went 10-for-22 (45.5 percent) from 3-point range.

Megan Taylor added 16 points for the Cyclones, while Desiree Francis contributed 15 off the bench.

Melanie Turner led USF with 12 points.
