    (Fullerton, CA) - USF women's basketball, behind a balanced scoring attack pounced on Cal State Fullerton, downing the host Titans 96-56 in non conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Titan Gym. It was the second consecutive blowout administered by the Lady Dons (2-0) after thumping UC Riverside 105-51 in the 2000-2001 season opener. The Titans fell to 0-3 on the year.

    USF shook off some early cobwebs and trailed 11-10 with 14:37 remaining in the first but then went on a 32-10 run to take a 44-21 advantage with 4:17 remaining behind junior forward Molly Shanley's 10 first-half points. USF went into the locker room at the half with a 48-32 lead. The Titans came out with six unanswered points to start the second half, but USF responded with a 20-0 lead and the rout was on.

    Junior guards Melanie Turner and Lindsey Huff led the way for USF offensively with a game-high 14 points apiece, while Shanley added 13 for the Lady Dons. For the second straight game, San Francisco shot the ball extremely well from the floor finishing the game at .561 (37-66) and converted on .400 (6-15) of their attempts from long distance.

    USF played well offensively and out rebounded the Titans 47-36 and collected 12 steals and forced 22 Fullerton miscues. Freshman center Mary Jane Krueger hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds and was one point shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points. The Lady Dons also distributed the ball again for the second straight game and dished out 21 assists, led by five each from Huff and senior forward Cortney Keegan. Keegan also added nine points.

    Junior guard Renae Hofmann and sophomore guard Lisa Whiteside each chipped in eight points and a pair of assists for the Lady Dons.

    USF returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Palo Alto for a game against Stanford. Game time is at 7:30 PM at Maples Pavilion.
