USF Women's Basketball Host Oregon State Wednesday

THIS WEEK: This week USF hosts the Pac-10's Oregon State Beavers on Wednesday, before traveling to San Luis Obispo for a Sunday meeting with Cal Poly. Wednesday's game against the Beavers is set for 6:00 PM. Last season, the Dons took a 64-62 victory at OSU. On Sunday, the Dons travel to Cal Poly for a 2:00 PM tip-off. Last year, USF earned the 77-67 victory at War Memorial Gym.

LAST TIME OUT: The Dons hosted the sixth annual odwalla Classic, going 1-1 in the tournament. USF defeated Northern Colorado 73-65 on Saturday, but fell to Washington State 83-71 on Sunday. UNC earned the first victory of the tournament, defeating WSU 86-79 on Friday.

LOOKING AHEAD: USF plays just one game at home next week, hosting Cal State Fullerton at War Memorial Gym on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7:00 PM. The following Sunday (Dec. 14), the Dons travel to Sacramento State for a 2:00 PM tip-off with the Hornets.

Rheina Ale TIES DONS RECORD: Freshman guard Rheina Ale scored a career-best 21 points on perfect 9-for-9 shooting Saturday against Northern Colorado. Ale's 9-for-9 shooting, 3-for-3 from the beyond the arc, ties a program-best single game shooting percentage record. The native of Carson, Calif. became just the second Don in San Francisco history to record a perfect 1.000 shooting percentage from the field. The lone other member of USF history to record a perfect game was Teri Hunt, who hit 11-for-11 against Loyola Marymount on Jan. 25, 1986. Hunt's record also stands as a West Coast Conference all-time best. In addition to her 21 points, Ale also added five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

ODWALLA CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Two Dons made the All-Tournament team at this years odwalla Classic. Senior guard Shay Rollins averaged 18.5 points in the Dons' two games. Saturday against Northern Colorado, Rollins posted 18 points with a pair of steals, before recording 19 points Sunday with four assists and six rebounds. Freshman guard Rheina Ale averaged 19.5 points in the two contests. Against the Bears, Ale tied a school record going 9-for-9 for a perfect 1.000 shooting percentage with 21 points. Sunday, Ale continued her strong scoring; posting 18 points with three boards and four assists.

GAME #7 - OREGON STATE BEAVERS
SCOUTING OREGON STATE:
Oregon State enters the week with a 3-1 overall record, falling only to then No. 2 North Carolina. Sophomore guard Talisa Rhea leads the Beavers with 20.8 points per game, including 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Senior guard Brittney Davis is the only other Beaver to average points in double figures, with 13.5 per game. Davis brings along 3.3 rebounds and 3.75 assists per game. Senior center Tiffany Ducker leads OSU with 6.5 rebounds per game. Head coach LaVonda Wagner has a 39-54 career record in Corvalis, Ore (4th year).

SERIES RECORD/STREAK: OSU holds a 6-3 series record, but the Dons have won the past two meetings.

LAST MEETING: Dominique Carter led all scorers with 28 points and Heidi Heintz added 10 as the Dons took a close 64-62 victory at Oregon State (12/2/07).

GAME #8 - CAL POLY MUSTANGS
SCOUTING CAL POLY:
Cal Poly enters the week with a 4-2 overall record, including a 70-64 win over San Diego. Senior forward Megan Harrison leads the Mustang with 14.8 points per game. Sophomore forward Kristina Santiago adds 11.0 points per game. Senior guard Lisa McBride rounds out the Mustangs that average in the double digits, scoring 10.7 points per game. McBride also leads Cal Poly with 7.0 rebounds per game and adds 2.17 assists per game. Head coach Faith Minmaugh is 125-187 in her 12th year at the helm in San Luis Obispo, Calif. and is 132-249 in her 15 year career.

SERIES RECORD/STREAK: USF has a comanding 12-3 lead in the series

LAST MEETING: Dominique Carter had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in the Dons 77-67 win at War Memorial Gym (12/15/07).
