General Capsule: Turned in a remarkable freshman season for the Lady Dons last year... team's most consistent scorer and focal point of USF's offense and opposing defenses... looks for a rapid return and full recovery after tearing her right ACL during preseason workouts.

2000-2001 Season: Will miss all of 2000-2001 season with torn ACL in her right knee suffered in the preseason.

1999-2000 Season: (11.3 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 0.9 APG, .837 FT%, .417 3PT%): Turned in an outstanding freshman campaign on the Hilltop in 1999-2000... led the Lady Dons in scoring and ranked 12th in the West Coast Conference in both overall scoring (11.3) and conference only (13.2)... exploded for a career-high 28 points in USF's first victory against Portland (2/24/00) in the Rose City since 1991... scored 25 points on 7-10 shooting - 3-5 from 3-point distance... converted on 12-12 free throws against the Pilots in the Chiles Center... for her efforts in USF's first road sweep of Portland and Gonzaga in program history, was named WCC Player of the Week... ranked second in the WCC in free throw percentage (.837)... scored 15 points in her first career game against perennial national power Stanford (11/19/99)... recorded first career double-double in a 16 point, 11 rebounds victory at Northern Illinois (11/26/99)... recorded another double-double with 13 point, 14 rebound performance against Portland (1/15/00)... scored 19 points on three occasions - vs. Pepperdine (1/28/00), at Saint Mary's (2/3/00) and vs. Santa Clara (2/19/00).

Prep Career: An outstanding high school player at Newport High School... broke the school's all-time scoring record with an incredible 2,100 career points (21.4 ppg)... also averaged 11.5 rebounds, as well as 5.0 assists and 5.0 steals per contest for her career... scored at a clip of 25.9 ppg as a senior... led her team to the state 2-A title as a senior, earning MVP honors for the state tournament and Player of the Year honors in the regular season... named to Washington's all-state team for all classifications as a senior... a four-time all-conference player... graduated in 1999.

Personal: Carey Anne Sauer... if she could be anyone for a day she would be Lisa Whiteside, so she would know what it is like to be quick... enjoys biking, canoeing and traveling... likes the music of Tom Petty, Sister Hazel and the Red Hot Chili Peppers... favorite movie is The Gladiator... favorite line from a movie is from A League of Their Own

Why USF?: After I visited the school I knew it was the right place for me. I like the coaches, the team and the atmosphere of the school.

Straight from the Coaching Staff: Carey's injury was very unfortunate. Her attitude towards recovery has been awesome. She will have the full support of her family, teammates and coaches to be ready for next season.
