#11, Molly Shanley

6-1, Jr., Forward
San Jose, CA/Presentation HS
Communications Major

General Capsule: Looks for a breakthrough season in 2000-2001... good defensive and rebounding skills... capable shooter who benefitted from summer league experience and the 2000 Europe trip... good court instincts and is extremely competitive.

1999-2000 Season: (1.2 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.6 apg, 0.2 spg): Early season starter... played solid defense for USF off the bench during conference play... established career scoring highs in consecutive games against Stanford and #9 Iowa State... pulled down season-high five rebounds against the Cardinal.

1998-99 Season:: Received limited playing time after getting off to a slow start due to an injury... did not make her USF debut until the team's WCC opener at San Diego (1/7/99)... played in all 14 WCC regular season games and the first round of the WCC Tournament, including a pair of starts.

Prep Career: A three-time all-conference player and four-time team MVP at Presentation High School... all-time leading scorer at school... averaged 15.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.0 bpg and 2.0 spg on her way to co-conference MVP honors as a senior... averaged 12.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.8 blocks per game as a junior... graduated in 1998.

Personal: Molly Kathleen Shanley... hobbies include travel and camping... comes from an athletic family as her dad (Dick), uncle (Jim) and brother (AJ) all played college football... goals for this season are to win the WCC Championship and go to the NCAA Tournament... favorite athlete is Grant Hill... favorite movies are Grease and The Lion King... would be San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown if she could trade places with anyone for a day... the best advice I could give to youngsters is to stay in school and enjoy their childhood... daughter of Dick and Kathleen Shanley... born September 27, 1980.

Why USF?: I love the City and everything it has to offer; the sights, shopping and restaurants. Even though USF is in a big city, there is a small community feeling to our campus.

Straight from the Coaching Staff: Molly is our most improved player. She has come a long way since her freshman year. This will be Molly's breakthrough season. Her defensive intensity will be a catalyst for our team to create a lot of offense.
