Fresno State Leads After Opening Round of Bay Area Classic With 310

(San Jose, CA) - Fresno State shot an opening round 310, good for the lead after 18 holes at the 2005 Bay Area Classic on a blustery Monday at The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge. Hawaii and the co-host Dons share second place at 318, while co-host San Jose State sits in fourth place at 320. BYU rounds out the top-five with a 322.

BYU's Rachel Newren and Katie Davidson of Ole Miss top the leader board with two-over 74's. The Spartans' Johanna Lundberg and Kristin Nichols of the Dons share third pace at 75.

USF senior Mariko Shimozaki finished eighth with a 77, while junior Nikki Jacoby finished 11th with a 79.

Tee times for the final round of the 36-hole event is scheduled for an 8:00 AM start on the challenging par-72 course playing at 6,095 yards.
