USF Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at the 2008 Kitahara Fresno State Invitational

(Fresno) - USF women's golf shot a 295 Tuesday in the final round of the 2008 Kitahara Fresno State Invitational, securing fourth place at 597 (302, 295) in the 36-hole event at Copper River Country Club. Competing in their first event of the spring season, the Dons finished just one stroke out of third place on the par-72 course playing at 6072 yards.

Sophomore Danielle Cvitanov was the top finisher for the Dons in fifth place at 146 (73, 73) and led the team with a pair of birdies in the final round. Sophomore Natasha Podmore earned a share of sixth place at 147 (72, 75). Sophomore Christina Stockton bounced back from a tough opening round with a one-over 73 on the final 18.

"This was a good start to the spring season," USF head coach Ria Quiazon said. "Everyone contributed and hopefully we can continue to improve heading into our next tournament."

USF returns to action when it competes in the 2008 San Jose State Spartan Invitational, beginning Monday, March 3 at the Almaden Country Club.
