(Salinas, CA) - UCLA's women's golf team shot a 9-under 279 in the second round of the Spartan Invitational Tuesday afternoon to take a nine-shot lead into Wednesday's final round of the tournament hosted by San Jose State at Corral de Tierra.
Bruin Charlotte Mayorkas shot the low round of the day with a 67 in the second round to take the individual lead with a two-round total of 139. She is two shots ahead of Cal's Sophie Andersson who shot 70-71 for a 141 total. In the second round, UCLA did not have to count a round above par in the team total.
USF (317, 307) enters the final round tied for 12th with a score of 624 West Coast Conference rival Pepperdine (308, 316). Junior Mariko Shimozaki (81, 73) and sophomore Nikki Jacoby (76, 78) posted scores of 154 and share 41st place on the leader board.
The third round begins Wednesday at 8 a.m.
