USF Women Finish Eighth in SJSU Spartan Invite

Defending national champion UCLA shot a 289 on Wednesday to win by two shots over Washington at the Spartan Invitational at Corral de Tierra in Salinas, Calif.
The Bruins placed three of their five golfers in the top-10, led by Susie Mathews who shot a three-under 68 in the final round to finish third with a 213. Charlotte Mayorkas finished tied for fourth after shooting a one-over 72, for a three-round total of 214. Amie Cochran finished tied for sixth with a 216 after shooting a 74 Wednesday.
Washington and UC Irvine each shot 290 on Wednesday. Huskie Paige Mackenzie shot a 72 to finish in a tie for fourth with a 214. Amber Prange had the low round for UW with an even-par 71.
The Anteaters were led by Carling Cho who finished tied for sixth after shooting 71 on Wednesday for a 216. Selanee' Henderson shot a 72 and finished tied for ninth with a 218.
California's Sofie Andersson won the individual title, shooting an even-par 71 in the last round for a three-round total of 206. UNLV'a Elena Kurokawa was second, five shots behind with a 211.
USF finished in eighth place after shooting 300 on Wednesday. Kristen Nichols was USF's best finisher at 18th place.
