USF Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational

(San Jose, CA) - San Francisco women's golf wrapped up play in the 2010 Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational in final round action Tuesday, finishing seventh after posting a 311 at the Almaden Golf and Country Club. The Dons finished just three shots out of the top-five on the par-72 course playing at 6,223 yards.
USF seniors Natasha Podmore and Christina Stockton finished tied for 11th at 226. San Francisco struggled mightily battling the elements and no Don flirted with par on the final 18. San Jose State's Cristina Corpus won her second straight tournament at 1-over 217 (72, 71, 74).
No. 14 Cal won the tournament at 899 (301, 301, 297), two shots in front of runner-up UC Davis (304, 297, 300). The tournament host Spartans finished third at 903 (295, 300, 308). UC Irvine finished fourth at 916 (299, 309, 308), one shot in front of No. 22 Oklahoma State at 916 (299, 312, 306).
USF returns to action when it travels to Paradise to compete in the 2010 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. Tournament play begins Monday, March 15 in Oahu at the Kane`ohe Kilpper Golf Course.
