The USF women's golf team shot an opening round of 304, good enough for fifth place after the first round of the Pioneer/Bruin Classic at the Menefee Lakes Country Club in Menefee, California Monday.

USF score places them just five strokes out of second place after 18 holes, but trails conference rival and tournament leader Pepperdine by seven strokes. The Lady Dons were paced by 2-over 74's recorded by Jordan Auten and Laura Viveras. Lyndsey Devenish shot a 76, while Susannah Laing and Lisa Chen carded 77.

Team scores: Pepperdine 297, UCLA 299, Cal 302, Oklahoma 303, USF 304, New Mexico 305, San Diego State Oregon 307, UC Irvine 308, CS Northridge 310, BYU 311, UNLV 312, Colorado 313, Long Beach State 324, Portland State 325, Washington State 330.
