(Las Vegas) - USF women's golf shattered its 54-hole tournament scoring record and recorded its lowest round of the season for the third consecutive day with a 289 in the final round of the 2008 UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational Wednesday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Dons finished fifth in the event after shooting 870 (291, 290, 289) in the event on the par-72 course playing at 6,204 yards. San Francisco established its previous 54-hole standard last season at the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational at 874 (298, 290, 286). Washington State (285, 289, 285) and BYU (293, 284, 284) shared the team title at five-under 859. Oregon (292, 291, 286) and Texas Tech (292, 286, 291) tied for third place, followed by the Dons to round out the top-five. It is the third straight top-five finish for USF to kick off the spring season. San Francisco also posted victories against two top-50 teams in the event - No. 46 Washington (10th/888) and No. 45 Indiana (11th/889). Sophomore Christina Stockton shared fifth place on the final leader board at three-under 213 (69, 72, 72). Senior Jessica Potter seized a share of eighth place at 214 (73, 70, 71). Sophomore Danielle Cvitanov turned in the best final round for the Green and Gold with a three-under 69, finishing in a logjam in 19th place at 217 (73, 75, 69). "I like the way we competed and responded to the challenges we faced throughout the tournament," USF head coach Ria Quiazon said. "Setting a new tournament scoring record is a tribute to everyone. Now we have to continue to improve as we prepare for our next event in Sacramento." Stockton carded a team-high five birdies in the final round finishing the event with a team-high 16 and in 54 holes carded 45 at par or better. Potter completed the event with 11 birdies and was par or better on 46 holes. Sophomore Natasha Podmore tallied four birdies on Wednesday, finishing with eight in the tournament and carded 46 holes at par or better.
