USF Places Fourth At 2002 Oregon Duck Invitational
March 29, 2002 LEBANON, Ore. - Lindsay Morgan's 3-over 217 led five Washington golfers who finished in the top nine as the 17th-ranked Huskies ran away with the Oregon Duck Invitational Friday, winning the team title by 21 strokes over second place Idaho. Washington shot 18-over 882 during the three round event at the 5,975-yard, par-72 Mallard Creek Golf Course. USF finished a strong tournament with a final round of 304 for a three-round total of 909 (302, 303, 304). Junior Susie Laing was the high finisher for the Lady Dons in third place, carding a 220 (73, 70, 77), while freshman Mariko Shimozaki placed sixth at 222 (75, 74, 74). Washington State's Kim Welsh won individual medalist honors by shooting a 2-under 70 Friday to finish at even par 216. Morgan was three stokes back in second place, while UW's Louise Friberg was tied for fourth at 221, Kelli Kamimura and Paige Mackenzie tied for seventh at 223 and Michelle Grafos tied for ninth at 224. With the top-five finish, San Francisco has now placed in the top five in six of their eight tournament appearances this season. The Lady Dons return to action when they compete at the 2002 BYU Dixie Classic beginning Monday, April 8.
