(Dove Canyon, CA) - USF women's golf is in contention after 36 holes of the 2010 Anteater Invitational Monday at the Dove Canyon Country Club. The Dons sit tied for second at 605, six shots behind overall leader San Diego State at 599 on the par-71 course playing at 5,960 yards.
The Aztecs posted a two-round total of 599 (300-299) to lead second-place San Francisco (300-305) and Kentucky (311-294) by six shots heading into the final round. Kentucky shot the low round of the day with a 294 on the second round moving from seventh place into a tie for second. Long Beach State is fourth with a score of 618 (310-308) and UC Irvine rounds out the top five with a score of 619 (313-306).
Junior Tinna Johannsdittir led the Dons on day one and sits in a share of fourth place at 147 (69, 78), while freshman Katrina Hegge sits tied for sixth at 149 (74, 75). Hegge led the Dons with six birdies on the day, while Johannsdottir added five for USF. UC Irvine's Hillary Packard (73-70) and San Diego State's Christine Wong (71-72) top the leaderboard with a one-over par 143.
San Francisco looks to make a move in Tuesday's final round. The tournament will get underway with a 8:30 AM shotgun start.
