USF Women's Golf Posts Runner-Up Finish at 2010 Anteater Invitational

(Dove Canyon, CA) – USF women’s golf shot a 300 in Tuesday’s final round and posted a runner-up finish to San Diego State in the 2010 Anteater Invitational at the Dove Canyon Country Club. Trailing by six strokes entering the final 18 holes, the Dons could not reel in the Aztecs as they carded a score of 300 Tuesday on the par-71 course playing at 5,960 yards.
SDSU took the tournament hardware with a 54-hole total of 899 (300, 299, 300), while San Francisco posted its highest finish of the 2009-10 season at 905 (300, 305, 300). Kentucky finished third at 912 (311, 294, 307), two shots in front of tournament host UC Irvine in fourth at 914 (313, 306, 295). Long Beach State rounded out the top-five teams with a score of 915 (310, 308, 297).
USF posted a pair of top-40 wins against No. 40 Idaho and the Anteaters, who entered the event at No. 36.
Freshman Katrina Hegge was the top finisher for the Dons in a share of sixth place at 223 (74, 75, 74). Junior Tinna Johannsdottir shared 12th place at 226 (69, 78, 79). Senior Danielle Cvitanov posted a top-20 finish tied for 17th at 227 (79, 74, 75).
USF returns to action when it competes in the 2010 West Coast Conference Championships. Tournament play begins Monday, April 19 at Hiddenbrooke Country Club in Vallejo, CA.
