USF Women Finish 16th at the 2008 PING ASU Invitational

(Tempe) - USF women's golf played better in the final round of the 2008 PING ASU Invitational Sunday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. The Dons moved up one spot to finish 16th at 925 (310, 312, 303) in the elite field, featuring no fewer than 14 top-50 teams and 12 of those are in the current top-25.

Four top-10 teams littered the top five. No. 3 USC won the event at 10-under 854 (281, 288, 285), followed by the host No. 4 Sun Devils at one-over 865 (288, 292, 285). No. 2 UCLA jumped three spots in the final round to third at 876 (294, 296, 286). No. 26 Texas A&M remained in fourth place at 879 (293, 290, 296) and No. 8 Georgia dropped two spots to fifth at 880 (289, 293, 298).

Sophomore Danielle Cvitanov carded the top round of the day for the Dons at one-over 73, finishing in a share of 31st at 224 (76, 75, 73). Senior Jessica Potter added a 74 for USF on the final 18.

USF returns to action when it competes in the 2008 West Coast Conference Championships, beginning Monday, April 14 with 36 holes in Tacoma, WA at the Chambers Bay Golf Course, recently selected to host the 2015 US Open. The Dons have posted six runner-up showings in the event and have won a pair of team titles (1997 & 2001).
