(Palo Alto, CA) - USF women's golf shot an opening round 309 Saturday afternoon at the 2005 Peg Barnard California Collegiate held at the Stanford Golf Course in its final tune-up prior to the 2005 West Coast Conference Championships Monday, April 11. Washington leads the field after firing a 287, followed by Washington State at 295, while the host Cardinal and Fresno State share third place at 302, while the Dons round out the top-five at the prestigious event.
Senior Mariko Shimozaki was the top scorer in the opening round for San Francisco, firing a one-over 73, good for a share of seventh place. Junior Nikki Jacoby shot a 76 and heads into the final round Sunday tied for 19th.
Action wraps up at the par 71, 6,030 yard course with an 8:00 AM shotgun start Sunday at the Stanford Golf Course.
