USF Women's Golf Finishes in Fourth Place Tie at Stanford

(Palo Alto, CA) - USF women's golf shot a final round 298 and a tournament total of 607 (309, 298), good for a share of fourth place at the 2005 Peg Barnard California Collegiate hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course. Senior Mariko Shimozaki captured third place for the Dons in her third top-five finish of the Spring Season. Shimozaki shot a one-under par 71, finishing at 144 (73, 71).
Washington won the tournament with a 587, followed by Washington State (590). The host Cardinal finished third overall with a 593, while Fresno State and San Francisco tied for fourth (607). Washington State's Kim Welch, who won the event last year, came out on top again after carding a two-under par 140 (66-74) for the win. Washington's Paige Mackenzie was second with a 143.
USF returns to action Monday when it competes in the 2005 West Coast Conference Championships at the Saddle Creek Golf Course in Copperopolis, California.
