The USF women's golf team placed second in the West Coast Conference Golf Championships which concluded Tuesday (Apr. 16) at Riverbend Golf Course in Fresno. Nationally ranked Pepperdine won the women's title. USF was paced by top-ten finishes by Susannah Laing (4th), Jean Shimozaki (5th), Jorden Auten (7th) and Lyndsey Devenish (9th). The top of the women's leaderboard was dominated by Pepperdine as well with all five golfers finishing in top ten, led by all-conference first-teamers Lindsey Wright, Katherine Hull and WCC Freshman of the Year Crystal Fanning. Wright won the WCC title for the second time in the last three seasons, claiming the trophy at the 2000 championships as well. Also on the first team all-conference were USF's Mariko Shimozaki, who finished in fourth place, followed by teammate Susie Laing and Portland's Megan Radonich in a tie for fifth. UP's Radonich became the first Pilot women's golfer to earn first team all-conference honors. < 2002 Women's All-Conference First Team Katherine Hull-Pepperdine Susie Laing-USF Mariko Shimozaki-USF Lindsey Wright-Pepperdine Crystal Fanning-Pepperdine Megan Radonich-Portland Honorable Mention Jordan Auten-USF Rachel Kyono-Pepperdine Sarah Walter-Portland Lyndsey Devenish-USF Maria Arenas-Pepperdine WCC Women's Coach of the Year Laurie Gibbs-Pepperdine WCC Women's Golfer of the Year (Women's Champion) Lindsey Wright-Pepperdine WCC Women's Freshman of the Year (Top Finishing Freshman)
