(Lompoc, CA) - USF women's golf shot an opening round 308 and carded a 315 in the second for a 623, good for second place after 36 holes at the 2007 West Coast Conference Championships at the La Purisma Golf Course. The Dons trail No. 6 Pepperdine who shot 601 (298, 303) with 18 holes remaining Tuesday. Senior Kristin Nichols led the Dons with a 152 (74, 78) good for third place overall in the event. Freshman Christina Stockton shares fourth place at 154 (74, 80). Junior Jessica Potter shares sixth place at 155 (81, 74). Pepperdine's Eileen Vargas leads the field at 145 (75, 70), followed by teammate Misun Cho at 147 (71, 76). A two-time All-WCC honoree, Nichols carded just one birdie in the first 36 holes but led the way with a team-high 27 pars in her final championship. Stockton birdied three holes and added 22 pars. Potter recorded a team-high four birdies to go along with 20 pars. San Francisco returns to final round action Tuesday at 9:00 AM.
