(Lompoc, CA) - USF women's golf shot a final round 307, one stroke better than No. 4 Pepperdine, but the Waves secured their sixth straight with a three round tally of 909 Tuesday at the 2007 West Coast Conference Championships at La Purisma Golf Course. The Dons finished at 930 (308, 315, 307) for its sixth consecutive runner-up showing to the Waves in the event and were 33 strokes in front of third place Gonzaga at 963 (315, 331, 317). Senior Kristin Nichols was the top finisher for USF in third place with a 227 (74, 78, 74), while junior Jessica Potter shared fourth place at 232 (81, 74, 77). Freshman Christina Stockton posted a 234 (74, 80, 80) in her first championship. Nichols earned All-WCC First Team honors for the third time in her career, while Potter captures accolades for the second straight season. Stockton also won first team honors, while senior Eloise Vicencio was honorable mention. Pepperdine freshman Misu Cho won the event at 222 (71, 76, 75) and teammate Eileen Vargas captured runner-up at 223 (75, 70, 78). Both Pepperdine and the Dons, who entered the week ranked No. 35 according to GolfStat.com, expect to represent the WCC in the NCAA Regionals. The selection show is set for Monday, April 30, 1:00 PM (PT) and the entire field will be available on ncaasports.com.
