(Vallejo, CA) - USF women's golf enters the final round of the 2010 West Coast Conference Championships second to No. 9 Pepperdine after shooting a 307 in round two on a blustery Monday at the Hiddenbrooke Country Club. The Dons trail the defending league champion Waves by 27 shots and have a 19-stroke lead on third place Gonzaga.
Defending WCC Player of the Year Danielle Cvitanov leads the event at 4-over 148 (75, 73), one shot in front of Pepperdine's Kaitlin Drolson (78, 71) and Danielle Kang (74, 75) at 149. Freshman Katrina Hegge (79) and senior Christina Stockton (82, 77) are tied for eighth at 159.
All teams contended with windy conditions, causing tempartures to plummet and scores to soar. Only 19 rounds in the 70's were turned in throughout the 36 holes by the field of 40 student-athletes. Drolson turned in the only round at par or better on the day with a 1-under 71 in round two.
Pepperdine looks in position to claim its ninth straight WCC title with a 36-hole score of 600 (307, 293). The Dons shot 627 (320, 307).
USF looks to tame the weather in Tuesday's final round. Complete 36 hole results available here.
