USF Women's Golf Finishes 16th at 2005 NCAA West Regional

(Las Cruces, NM) - USF women's golf shot a 302 in the final round of the 2005 NCAA West Regional at the University Golf Course, hosted by New Mexico State, finishing at 926 (318, 306, 302) overall, good for 16th place. The Dons, making their fifth straight NCAA Regional appearance got a strong final round from senior Mariko Shimozaki, who shot an even-par 72 in the final collegiate round in her distinguished career on the Hilltop.
Shimozaki started on the back nine, finishing at one-over, but carded three straight birdies on holes 2-4 finishing with San Francisco's low score for the tournament. The Hawaii native was the top finished for USF in the Regional, finishing in a share of 26th place. The four-time All-West Coast Conference selection won the 2005 Bay Area Classic.
Freshman Jessica Potter shot 75 for the Dons, while junior Nikki Jacoby shot 77. Potter shared 44th place in her first Regional appearance.
