USF Women's Golf Struggles In Second Round of 2010 NCAA West Regional

(Palo Alto, CA) – USF women’s golf struggled mightily in the second round of the 2010 NCAA West Regional Friday morning at the Stanford Golf Course and enter Saturday’s final round in 21st place. The Dons shot 325 on a day when seemingly nothing went right.
Despite pleasant conditions, scores soared in the second round and only four players carded rounds at par or better. Senior Natasha Podmore was the only San Francisco player to crack 80 Friday, finishing at 79 on the challenging par-71 course playing at 6,115 yards.
The top eight teams from the West Regional will advance to NCAA Nationals May 18-21 in Wilmington, NC. No. 7 Arizona leads the field at 585 (291, 294), followed by No. 1 UCLA at 588 (292, 296), seven shots in front of No. 6 Alabama at 595 (295, 300). No. 13 Virginia is fourth at 596 (291, 305), while No. 24 California (292, 305), No. 20 LSU (302, 295) and No. 32 Texas (293, 304) share fifth place at 597. Iowa State enters the final 18 in eighth place at 599 (302, 297), while three teams are tied for ninth place at 601 No. 17 Stanford (297, 304), No. 25 Texas A&M (299, 302) and No. 36 UNLV (295, 306).
San Francisco tees off the final round off No. 1 beginning at 1:36. The Dons are paired with Portland State and Idaho.
